EOF. 2 Answers Sorted by: 8 No, you are best off with blank rotors no slots, no holes just like stock. Slotted rotors are more aggressive on the pads. Drilled rotors are plain dangerous unless they are a good quality read. All the drilled and slotted areas on the braking surface means less metal is available. This lessens the braking consistency of the rotor. Buyer should also beware of having blank rotors slotted to their satisfaction. Although high-end performance vehicles utilize drilled/slotted builds, their rotors are forged that way from factory.

Again, the main benefits to slotted or drilled rotors are cooling, not necessarily boosting braking power. After-market drilled and or slotted rotors like these from Power Slot and Brembo are more expensive, louder, dustier, and require specialized maintenance than OEM rotors. But they also perform better during heavy towing and hauling. If the budget is tight, I#x27;d recommend skipping the slotted rotors and spending a little bit more on upgrading the pads. Slotted rotors seem to run at about a 25 to 100 premium over just the solid rotors - which works out to spending about 50 to 200 extra..

.. Slotted rotors may still be useful in their ability to remove pad glazing but consequently produce faster pad wear. That spells more brake dust on your wheels. That dust can be corrosive to aluminum wheels, as are many of the chemical cleaners used to remove that dust. Since most hot rods are not driven hard enough to get hot enough to glaze.

If you don#x27;t care, save some cost and use a decent standard rotor. The HFM.Parts R33/R34 GTR front slotted rotors are a direct replacement of the OEM rotors and are slotted curved vane rotors that are 60 more efficient in cooling to help avoid brake fade. HFM Two piece rotor offers a significant weight saving, uniform expansion that allows the rotors to expand amp; contract with changes in temperature, rotational mass, and quicker heat.
Honda: Why are Blank Rotors Better than Slotted/Drilled Rotors?.
A couple of years ago I bought an OEM airpump for the exhaust system for 250 from an online autoparts store in Arizona, and the Dealer had that MSRP of something like 670. That#x27;s when I realized that if the OEM part was almost 3x at the dealer vs. another supplier, a lot of parts are just hyper inflated in their pricing when bought from a dealer.

6 Posts. #8 Mar 20, 2021. I had a set of Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors with Z23 pads on an 09 SE V6 solid rear rotors. It was a good upgrade, almost too good for daily driving. Loved the rotors, not so much for the pads. I decided to test the braking capability on the highway, did a hard stop from 70 mph to 40 off an exit ramp. The slotted disc is generally recommended for those use favor a more quot;extremequot; use of the disc. For all types of brake discs, particularly for those with machining on the braking band as in the case of drilled and slotted discs, Brembo conducts numerous bench and road tests in order to meet the performance and thermal-mechanical needs of. Aftermarket is fine, in fact you can find rotors as good or better than OEM cheaper. I run smooth or slotted, I avoid drilled as they are more prone to cracking at prolonged temperature extremes. If you#x27;re not hitting the track, drilled rotors are fine if you like the look. Contact a good vendor--maybe try WMW, Way will get you set up with good.
